21st Theme Sparks: Happy Halloween!
Get ready
What is the theme & story for this week?
Do you have any exciting plans for this Halloween weekend? 🎃 🕸 🎃 I can’t believe it is already the last weekend of October. We have only two months for 2021! Now I am planning for the upcoming Christmas season which is my favorite. For inspiring your weekend, I would like to share my story when I worked as a cast member in Liberty Square at Magic Kingdom. (Orlando, FL) As you may know, Haunted Mansion is one of the most popular attractions in Dinsey Theme Parks. Haunted Mansion is a classic dark ride attraction that invites guests to the mysterious house in which ghostly residents have taken full possession. Guests will ride on a vehicle named gloomy Doom Buggy for a grave journey.
The concept sounds scary, but you know Disney, there is no gore, only friendly ghost residents will host your visit. In terms of attraction systems, I love the vehicle because the character is totally in line with the theme of the attraction. Also, the sound system and movement of the vehicle help guests immerse the story and atmosphere. Here is the Full Ride Experience Video for your reference.
Let theme spark in your everyday life
Experience 1. Play with invisible friends
It was my job to merchandise and interact with guests in Liberty Square. In the stores located next to Haunted Mansion, there were many interesting products themed on the attraction, ghosts, and The nightmare before Christmas. My favorite toy was an invisible dog leash. I loved to have fun with guests, especially kids, playing as if there was an actual puppy. 🐶 😎
I found an art project regarding the invisible dog leash that happened more than ten years ago. According to improveverywhere, the invisible dog toy was invented in the 1970s in a factory in Brooklyn, New York. In this ‘Invisible Dogs’ project, participants were just told to spread out and go on a walk for an hour or so, behaving as if they were walking an actual dog. They said “it was really fun to do a mission that was so spread out, both in time and in space. It felt like we really blanketed the whole neighborhood with our silliness.” that impressed me. Please visit their website for checking more photos and videos.
Experience 2. Have dinner with spooky recipes
Don’t forget the food for Halloween dinner. The pictures above show Halloween treats that my husband and I made together last year. We truly enjoyed every moment of preparing our special dinner for Halloween. I was shocked by the realistic visual of onions and sausage fingers made by my husband. Indeed, he has an artistic talent. What is your favorite? Many creative ideas could inspire you. This weekend, I will try making mini spider pizzas inspired by Kim’s recipe. 😆 🕷 It will be fun and exciting!
